Stripped to the deck, built back up
Roof Replacement in Clarkston
A new roof built from the deck up, with a written scope you understand before the first shingle comes off.
What Actually Happens When a Roof Is Replaced
A roof is not just shingles. It is a stack of layers that each do one job, and a replacement only works when every one of them is done right. So here is the plain version. First the old shingles, nails and underlayment come off, all the way down to the wooden deck. Then the deck gets checked board by board. Soft, delaminated or rotted sheets are cut out and replaced, and you see photos of them before that happens. Next comes the drip edge along the eaves and rakes, self-sealing ice and water membrane through every valley and at each pipe, and synthetic underlayment across the rest. New pipe boots. New step and wall flashing. Vents set so air can move in at the eaves and out near the ridge. Only then do the shingles go on, nailed where the manufacturer says to nail them, finished with matched hip and ridge caps. In Clarkston that work often happens under heavy tree cover, so we take extra care protecting beds and clearing gutters on the way out. At the end, the yard is swept with a magnet, scrap is hauled off and we walk the house with you. Nothing about it is mysterious. It just has to be done in order, without shortcuts.
What a Replacement Includes
Every house is a little different, but these pieces are part of nearly every roof we replace.
Complete tear-off
Every shingle layer and the felt beneath pulled off, leaving bare wood we can actually look at.
Deck repair at a set rate
Rotted or soft sheathing replaced at the per-sheet price written into your quote.
Drip edge and barrier
Metal edging at the eaves and rakes, with a self-adhering membrane lining valleys and pipe openings.
Synthetic underlayment
A tough, water-shedding layer laid across the whole deck beneath the shingles.
New flashing
Step, wall and valley flashing replaced, not reused, so the joints stay watertight.
Balanced ventilation
Intake and exhaust vents sized together so the attic can breathe and the shingles stay cooler.
Shingles to spec
Starter rows, nail placement and ridge caps done exactly the way the shingle maker requires.
Cleanup and walk-around
Debris hauled away, a magnetic nail sweep and a final look at the roof together.
How a Replacement Moves From Call to Finished Roof
Inspect and photograph
We go over every slope, the flashing and the attic, then show you photos of what is worn or damaged. You get a straight answer on whether replacement is truly needed or whether a repair would carry the roof a while longer.
Quote and choose
A written scope lists materials, quantities and the decking rate. You pick the shingle style and color, or ask about metal or cedar shake, and we confirm a start date that works for you.
Install and clean up
Most homes are torn off and roofed over a short stretch of daylight work. Each evening the site is picked up. On the final day, the yard is swept, the gutters are cleared and we walk the roof line with you.
